It Began At The Essex House On October 31, 1996...

Equestria first operated out of Claremont Riding Academy on Manhattan's Upper West Side
A cocktail reception hosted by the New York Therapeutic Riding Center at the Essex House on the evening of October 31, 1996 was the catalyst for the start of our Equestria program.
At this cocktail reception, speakers representing both government and the arts and entertainment communities voiced their enthusiasm for the planned opening of our Equestria program at the Claremont Riding Academy on Manhattan' s Upper West Side .
One of those who spoke on-camera was Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. Congresswoman Maloney's short, yet heartfelt, speech truly reflected the feelings of those who were at that affair.
The Essex House event took place 20 years ago, and the Equestria Program has come a long way since then in helping hundreds of individuals with disabilities.
The above Showcase gives a wonderful account of the Essex House event which was the primary vehicle for the opening of the New York Therapeutic Riding Center, the first Center of its kind to be established in New York City.
